Starry Night-Cognitive Complexity

This is one of my favorite paintings. It's titled Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. Starry Night is one of the most well known images in modern culture and has been replicated after printing many times.

Maybe you will ask , what is so special with this painting? What is the story behind this painting. Well, here's my explanation, according to me, hee...

• There is the night sky filled with swirling clouds, stars lights, and a bright crescent moon. Really beautiful! The curves of the cloud makes my eyes move around follow the dots and line in the paintings. The sky, moon, and star give me cheers and hope that reminds me to trust my dreams. Dream a lot dream a lot dream a lot,, Ye ye yea...
  
• There is a small town below the hills. The atmosphere is peace and quiet. I think it reflects about Van Gogh loneliness, since he's painting this picture while he was in Mental Asylum St. Remy, healing his mentally disorder. The cool dark colors and the lighting windows reminds me about the memories of my warm childhood years filled with imagination of what exists in the night and dark starry skies. The highest point of the town is steeple of the church. I think it shows the religious side of Van Gogh.
  
• To the left of the painting there is a big dark structure that takes a greater space in the painting. This object scares me. It gives me like loneliness, fear, and dark isolation feeling when i see it.
  

O yea.. Some of pictures in my blog are taken from deviantart. Is it legal or not? I think it's okay since i don't admit those pictures by mine right??! Unless i've told the truth... :P

The weather's so gloomy recently. Almost rain everyday... I recently listen to this song to pump up my mood and be happy!

My Assumption about the Song

This song is about a guy who get problems in life. He thinks that every thing near him is gone wrong. He is old but still trapped in the childish world and can not do things that all mature people are hoped to do.

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun And I said I didn't like the way he got things done Sleepin' on the job Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling

He complains to God, he thinks God is unfair. He hates how God abandon him and always sends trouble to him.

But there's one thing I know The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

But one thing that he believes, that all troubles and sadness that come to his life would not make him down. he optimist that someday, soon, he would meet his own happiness.

Even all the problems come, he would not cry, coz he knows that crying or always complain about life will not solve the problems. He's free and won't let anything troubled him in finding the way to be happy!

Today's Fallacies

I'm kind of on writing mode today, so i think i could post more..

I watched "Vantage Point" an action movie about the attempt of US president assasination from different perspectives of people. I found fallacy there, which is "Fallacy Ad Populum appeal to Force"

Here it is:
"Let my brother go. I've done my part, let my brother go or i'll pull the trigger!" (pointing the gun to US president head).

This is Fallacy Ad Populum Appeal to force because a person attempts to create support for his or her idea by increasing fear and prejudice toward a competitor.

Another Fallacy
Before i went to "KAMIKUSTIK" concert in XR1003 I made a fallacy Ad Populum appeal to vanity in order to persuade my friend to do me a favor. I have Management of Technology class start from 8-10 PM. But, at the same time there's an Kamikustik concert also. There will be 3 group presentations today. My presentation was yesterday, it's ok for me if I don't attend the class, but Ms. Teh said that today is the submission of LV/Lecture Voucher (Like a small coupon u get every time you participate in class), i have to come... So i talked to my friend through YM

Me :"Titti, you are a nice girl who like to help your friend right?"

Titti :"Hahahaa,, what do you want??"

Me : I want to watch Indonesian Acoustic concert in XR1003, the concert start from 8PM-11Pm. I wanna go there, but don't want to miss the class also, so later i'll come to the class, sign the attendance list, leave my bag there, and watch the concert...

Titti : "Wow!"

Me : "So, would you please send me sms when the group presentations over, so i wouldn't miss anything from Ms. Teh."

Titti : "Okay, no problem. Anything happened, i'll message you"

Me : "Titti, you are my angel..."

I said Titti is a nice girl and she is my angel in attempts to make her feel special and then to agree with my request. This is Apple Polishing/ Fallacy Ad Populum Appeal to vanity

Hey, by the way I canceled my evil plan, hee... I came to the MOT class, sitting quietly at the back without going anywhere, I'm a good student right... But, I still could go to KAMIKUSTIK after my class over, i missed some performances, but it's okay, coz education's number one... Hahaha.... xP

Unity among Us..

I just watched "KAMIKUSTIK" this night. It's kind of acoustic music concert from Indonesian Student in MMU. It was really a great performance! Here was my feeling when i watched that performance


Sensation, is a physical feeling caused by having one or more of the sense organs
I watched the performance. I heard the sound of acoustic guitar, the singers sang my favorite songs, and how the audience looked so excited and couldn't stop screaming the singers name and applause for them.
Behind the singers, there was a huge scene, showing a photographs bout Indonesia, the landscape, people, concept, and its culture.


Emotion is a mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort and is accompanied by physiological changes.
It's kind of bring back me to the old memories. Happy, silly, sad, mellow, and feel pity of my self!
I suddenly really miss my lovely Indonesia too, my family, my friends. Uwoooo...


Interpretation the act of process of interpreting something
Yea sometimes song gives us a strange feeling right? It can change my mood so easily, when you feel sad or lame, listen to the up beat song and you can be more energetic and forget about your problem, or if you are in a broken heart stage, listening to the love songs could motivate you to do suicide, haha, kidding!

I was not a really nationalist citizen though, but when I saw the pictures, it makes me feel how great Indonesia, forget about the corruption, poverty, and unstable political condition for a while, and remember how the beautiful landscapes, the diversity of culture, the friendly people, Uwooo... I wanna go home!!! Love ya...

Re-Writing Ending 10.000 BC

I love watching movie very much! This is movie i watched couple weeks ago. Not a very good movie actually. Maybe because I put too high expectation on it and found out that the movie was just so so. It has great special effect though, but the ending was really predictable and the plot it self was so flat.

Here's the summary of the movie:

D’Leh, is a young mamoth hunter who gains a large measure of respect when he single-handedly takes down a mammoth, which also make him have the right to marry Evolet . However, the tribe is attacked by “the four-legged demons,” which is the primitive tribe’s way of describing the warriors of more civilization who arrive by horse to kidnap tribes people and turn them into slaves.

D’Leh and company later made a journey to save Evolet and other tribe people. Later, D'Leh and company hook up with a black tribe led by Nakudu, who believes that D’Leh is a prophesied leader-messiah that can save them from "Four legged Demon".

After assembling an army of various tribes people, D’Leh goes to save Evolet.Nearly at the end of movie, when D'Leh and Evolet met. Someone threw a spear to Evolet from behind and Evolet dead. But mother of soul (old woman in village) by magical spells or something like that, exchange her life with Evolet. Evolet alive and mother of soul died. D'Leh and Evolet then live happily ever after.

My Ending-Sad Ending

I don't like sad ending movie actually. But since this movie is so predictable in the irritating way i want to make the unpredictable one.

After Evolet dead, D'Leh was soooo sad and frustrated felt that his journey to the end of the world was useless since he couldn't save his love. Then, he took his spear near him, stabbed him self and die. When mother of soul gave Evolet new life, it's late, because when Evolet opened her eyes, he saw D'leh was surrounding by blood, dead. She was so shocked and crying a river. She wanted to suicide also, but people around her prohibited her, told that D'Leh was risking his life to save Evolet, if she killed her self, all the things that D'leh did was useless. Evolet realized that she has to live, she threw the spear away and went back to her village. She loved D'Leh too much and didn't want to open her heart to other peple. Finally, Evolet lives in despair and lonely, happily never after..... *___*

What a day...

I have Management of Technology Presentation this morning. I've read the report the night before, but haven't finished to write the summary of my part. The next morning i overslept and found out that i haven't completed the summary, so i turned on my laptop made a note from the report and wrote an important thing bout the rest of my part in hasty. To make it quick, i wrote:

BENCHMARKING
Identify d best pract frm 1 or more bench. firm, ass the comp. post by comparing prod n serv. w/ d target firm n revise their perf. accord. to d bench. res.

I rocketed to the bathroom, took a bath, and get dressed. I took my black wrist watch, hoping I would get a good luck for today. It's like my "lucky charm", everytime i wear that watch, i get a great day, haha...




When i arrived at class and read my note, i realized that i didn't understand at all what i wrote. Damn... The sentence looked weird and i couldn't determine the meaning of the words.

When it's time to me to present my part, i forgot about the definition of Benchmarking. Looking at the notes was useless because i didn't understand the words there, hehe. So, spontaneously i just said that "Benchmarking is something essential to the company in order to be able to compete with other competition in business."


Analysis:

BENCHMARKING

This called vagueness because i was not careful to write the sentence that i wrote to make me understand about the meaning when i read it later

rocketed, i used metaphor because i create a comparative image without comparative quantifier

everytime i wear that watch, i get a great day, i just made a post hoc fallacy, the fact that i get a good day everytime i wear my black watch is not sufficient enough for concluding that i get a great day because i wear my black watch. It might be relevant, but it doesn't prove it.


"Benchmarking is something essential to the company in order to be able to compete with other competition in business."
This called tendentious argument, because i used emotional appeal and tried to persuade the listeners that benchmarking important for the company.

Men-Women-Cheating!

I chatted with my buddy this night,, we talked about many things, until we come up with a new topic about boys n girls cheating habit, hahaha..

Many people said that Men cheat more than women... But he really didn't agree with that statement...

Dafa : "Actually the percentage of Men and Women cheating are the same, 50:50."

Me :"Humm, are you sure, Dafa?? "How did you get that statistical data?? Hehe..."

Dafa :"The number of Boys and Girls whom cheating with his or her couples, I have seen so far are same. I looked at my friends in campus, women cheat a lot! I have been the victim too, haha,"

He also argued that many people think that men are cheat more than women because they are likely to get caught and women hide it better,,,

Thank you for my Critical Thinking subject that i take this semester, i didn't accept his statement easily, because Dafa has just made an invalid argument.

Why it is invalid?
Because the conclusion arrived from the facts that are not 100% guaranteed true, because that sample does not consist of all possible evidence. It involves an incomplete sample. Because of this the conclusion became follow probably from the premise. And also the quality of the data or sample he has is not qualified enough to draw the inference that the number of women and men cheating are same.

And his statement that many people think that men are cheat more than women because they are likely to get caught and women hide it better are causal argument that makes his statement become inductive reasoning.

By the way thanks to him so i can get an idea for my new post!
